Message from our President:  John Metzner

Welcome to our Website.  It serves to inform members of current activities and provide information to potential new members. Membership is open to retired or partially retired professional and businessmen. Hence the name “Probus”. There are about 5000 Probus Clubs world-wide with over 300,000 members. We are independent of each other.

We are looking for more members so if you would like to consider joining us, come as a guest, you will be made welcome. To contact us: double click on our Committee link below or come as a guest of any other member

At our February Luncheon our speaker John Hargreaves gave a slide show of magnificent photographs taken whilst sailing in the Antarctic: more details in the next Newsletter

Our activities consist of two parts:

Next luncheon: 8th March – Speaker – Siobhan Clark –“Hampton Court – Pleasure Palace”

2        Outings between monthly meetings to places of interest to members and wives: theatres, museums, sporting venues, stately homes, rambles etc.

Next outings:

Friday 30th April 2010 A 3 to 4 mile ramble led by John Kelly starting at 10:30 from the New Inn at Send – post code GU23 7EN, followed by lunch at the New Inn.

May 2010 – We plan to join another group on a visit to Bletchley Park where enemy codes were broken by using the Enigma machines. Bookings will be taken shortly when the number of places available will be known.

A group of member’s wives and widows meet monthly for coffee at a local restaurant, and join us at our Ladies’ Luncheons held in June and December each year. Wives, widows and partners join us on our outings. The Ladies Coffee Meetings activities are arranged by Marilyn Jennings.
